Members of the T. S. Bowers Post, Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), Mt. Carmel, IL are listed by name on this charter and state charter (right and below).



Company G 48th Illinois Volunteers Military Record lists all members, officers and those killed in battle. This framed record was part of the memorabilia from the Ladies Auxiliary of the GAR. One of the primary functions of the auxiliary was to help in obtaining pensions for Civil War veterans and to decorate graves on Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day. (left)
