In October 1942 a group of
Snap-On employees chartered the Snap-On Tools Credit Union in Mt. Carmel to
encourage savings and provide reasonably priced loan products to its' employees.
In the beginning the credit union was run by a Snap-On employee in his spare
time from a briefcase at the plant. As time went by and the credit union
progressed, the board of directors saw the need to employ a manager to oversee
the operation and also opened a credit union office in a location separate from
the Snap-On Tools plant. The credit union has been in its present location at
1011 Oak Street since the 1980's. The board of directors saw the need to move
forward and diversify. The name was changed to Three Rivers Community Credit
Union. There is now a community charter which serves any person residing or
employed in Wabash, Lawrence, Crawford, White and Edwards Counties. The charter
also includes nine employee groups.
The credit union is governed by a group
of nine volunteer board members and committee members. The credit union's
members are the owners; therefore the credit union doesn't have to make large
sums of money to pay stockholders. The credit union is a non-profit organization
and its profits go back to its' members in the form of dividends.
The credit
union board of directors invites you to become a member of The Three Rivers
Community Credit Union to enjoy higher savings and lower loan rates.
