This event takes place on the Sunday after Mother's Day each May.
175th Anniversary of Civil War
A series of articles will be posted on the museum website www.museum.wabash.il.us and published discussing the part local military units and soldiers played in the war as the five year commemoration continues. Using original news articles from the 1860’s, maps, local unit histories, letters and diaries the series will begin later this year. The first units formed in Illinois mustered in from July through September, 1861 and began to drill and prepare for the campaigns. Anyone wishing to contribute material toward this series can contact Claudia Dant at firstname.lastname@example.org or 618-298-2042. An exhibit will up at the museum during this time period also. Area 5th graders attend the Civil War exhibit each April.
