First Bank had its beginnings in Carmi, IL in 1893 as State Bank of Carmi with $25,000 in capital stock. Its' first directors were: George Wiist, John Land, Felix Viskniskki, Thomas W. Hall and C. E. McDowell.

First Bank had opened a small office in Mt. Carmel in a trailer located on Oak Street in November 2001 with intentions of building on West Ninth Street. In July 2002 First Bank purchased the building at 6th and Market and moved there. Renovations of the building were complete in August 2003.

First National Bank of Allendale was chartered in 1906 with a capitol stock of $25,000. The officers were W. F. Courter, president; W. M. Price, vice president, H. A. Fox, cashier. Directors were W. F. Courter, W. M. Price, John Kogan, H. A. Fox, Fred Holsen Jr., M. Schafer, S. H. Price and H. T. Goddard. The first location was on the south side of Allendale's main street between 3rd and Railroad Streets. The next bank was built in 1948 on the northeast corner of First and Main Streets and featured the first drive-up window in Illinois. In 1984 a branch was started in Mt.Carmel at 1515 West Ninth Street.

Old National Bank of Evansville, IN purchased Security Bank and Trust in 1991 and took over that location at 4th and Market Streets. There has been a bank on this corner almost continuously since 1890.
Regions Bank at the corner of Ninth and Mulberry Streets in Mt. Carmel. The headquarters is in Robinson, IL.
